The Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Pir Syed Saddaruddin Shah Rashidi assured Pakistanis expatriates that he will make sure that all issues and problems being faced by Overseas Pakistanis related to federal government departments are properly addressed and public grievances will be redressed in a fair, prompt and transparent manner as early as possible.
The Federal Minister expressed these views while addressing reception in the Consulate General of Pakistan, Manchester which was arranged in his honour. He said that all efforts will be made to provide maximum services to Pakistani expatriates besides evolving mechanism to address their grievances. He said that the present government is fully aware about the grievance of expatriates and is always ready to serve them. The Federal Minister highlighted the government has established a High Commission and four Consulate to serve British Pakistanis at their door step. He expressed his pleasure that Pakistani expatriates earned great name in all walks of life including politics, business, industry and other areas. He said that ten thousand Pakistani doctors are serving in various British hospitals.
A special reception was arranged in the Consulate General of Pakistan, Manchester in the honour of Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Pir Syed Sadruddin Shah Rashidi, Chairman OPF Board of Governors, Amjad Malik, Chairman, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Irfan Yusuf Shami who is also Member of OPF Board of Governors. Sizeable members from Pakistani community comprising of Mayors, Councillors, doctors, solicitors, businessmen, elected representatives and community leaders attended the reception. The Consul General of Pakistan at Manchester, Dr. Zahoor Ahmed and the Community Welfare Attaché Fizzah Niazi hosted the reception.
The purpose of reception was to give Federal Minister for OPs & HRD an orientation of work of the Consulate. Another important objective of the meeting was to provide an opportunity to the invited guests to share their thoughts about issues/problems being faced by the Overseas Pakistani specially British Pakistanis in the Pakistan and any suggestions regarding up- gradation of reddresal system in various Federal Government departments/ministries. The aim of the visit was to address the individual and systematic issues of the Overseas Pakistanis related to the Federal Government Ministries, Departments, Organizations and Agencies.
The Chairman OPF, Board of Governors, Amjad Malik informed the audience that Government of Pakistan has appointed an overseas Pakistani as Chairman, BoG of OPF as local person has thorough knowledge about the problems of overseas Pakistani being faced in overseas.
Dr. Zahoor Ahmed, Consul General of Pakistan thanked Federal Minister for his visit and listening to the comments/suggestions of the community members. Fizzah Niazi, Community Welfare Attaché assured the gathering, full support that problems of community would be addressed properly and also assured the Federal Minister for achieving his objectives of providing all possible assistance to the overseas Pakistanis both in the UK and in Pakistan.
On this occasion, the Federal Minister awarded Certificates to distinguished overseas Pakistanis who rendered valuable services in different walks of life. The Federal Minister awarded Fiaz Afzal who is the first ever blind Pakistan origin Judge, Faisal Rasheed, the first Mayor in the history of Warrington, Councillor, Naeem ul Hasan, who was Lord Mayer of Manchester in last year, Councillor Shahina Haron from Bury, she was awarded for her dedicated work for women, Councillor Asim Rasheed for rendering his services for Rochdale community, Father Falak Sher, who is a leader of Christian community, for rendering his services for Christian community, Pamila Ashraf, who is Secretary of literary forum “Ilm o Adab Forum”, Nusrat Shaheen for her work for women, Hamza Amber, Snooker Champion, Aafia Minhas, who won Gold Medal in swimming.
